PRIVATE: “EXPERIENCE THE THRILL OF RACING WITH LOGITECH 923: THE ULTIMATE RACING WHEEL”

As Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7 approach, we take a close look at Logitech’s newest steering wheel set, the G923, which comes to mind when it comes to player equipment.

When Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7 were revealed, players’ attention was drawn to the steering wheels. You are aware that when thinking of gaming accessories, the Logitech G series products come to mind first. With the release of its new G923 product, Logitech, which has long been the only unbeatable manufacturer of steering wheels in our nation, has once again drawn attention to itself. So without further ado, here is a thorough review of the Logitech G923 for Gran Turismo and Forza Horizon.

Gaming enthusiasts who enjoy driving simulation have been playing the Logitech G29 and G920 sets for years. Players were therefore very excited when the Logitech G923 was first announced. The fact that the G923 did not appear to be significantly different from the prior G29 and G920 on paper, however, as the details were revealed, lowered the players’ excitement. However, since Logitech continues to provide the most competitively priced and high-quality steering wheel in comparison to its rivals, every advancement made is profitable, and players also praised the G923. So, does the G923 actually contain innovations or is it merely a rehash of earlier steering wheels? I respond to this query in this review.

The TrueForce and progressive springs used in the pedal set are the Logitech G923’s most notable innovations. Since I know you’re curious about TrueForce, I’ve added a separate topic below where I attempt to briefly describe TrueForce.

Particularly in the brake pedal, the pedal set’s spring change creates a sensation that changes from soft to hard. A spring that transitions from soft to hard has taken the place of the spring and rubber combination mechanism that was underneath it. Thus, the goal is to give players a realistic gaming experience. But the brake pedal is still uncomfortable for me. As I use it, I’m hoping that it will suppleen.

As you may also be aware, Logitech G29 and G920 products were made available for PC and Playstation 4, respectively. For the Logitech G923, this distinction is no longer present. So be careful which platform you buy for if you want to buy!

Logitech G923 Design

The Logitech G923 has established itself in the market with two distinct key symbols, I must say. For Xbox users, the first is the Xbox key symbol, and for Playstation and PC users, the Playstation key symbol. The two products are identical to one another. The only difference on the keys is the symbols. To put it briefly, the design is essentially the same. These symbols aren’t just designed to look different, of course. As you may recall, the steering wheel was referred to in previous models as the Logitech G29 for PC and Playstation 4, the Logitech G920 for Xbox, and the Logitech G923 for all platforms in the new product. So be cautious if you want to own the product.

I prefer the design of the Logitech G923 over earlier iterations. Because the steering wheel’s black-weighted design is more fashionable, better represents the material quality, and conveys a more serious demeanor. Pedal size and design are nearly identical. Even if the logos are identical, it is possible to mistake which pedal belongs to which product. The removal of the steering-wheel platform selection button, in my opinion, represents the design change that has been made the most. The Logitech G923 now automatically determines what platform the connected device is on. Therefore, you don’t need to choose it by hand. Other than that, I didn’t notice any differences in the G923’s design from its predecessors.

What is TrueForce?

Although the Logitech G923, G29, and G920 appear to be nearly identical, the TrueForce feature in the G923 is the biggest difference. On the Logitech G29 and G920, TrueForce has now been added on top of Driving Force. TrueForce now connects directly to the game engine and uses existing data, replacing the library of preset profiles and effects that has been available for the past 20 years. According to Logitech, this provides much more realistic feedback and provides a comparable transition from standard TV to Full HD TV. In fact, we want to emphasize that we will experience feedback that is even more sensitive.

For instance, in the TrueForce-compatible SnowRunner game, you can feel the vibration of the engine starting your truck or the vibration of the engine running at idle on your steering wheel. Logitech refers to TrueForce’s accurate force reporting in this manner. There are still not many games that support TrueForce. I’m hoping that Logitech will steadily increase the number of games that support it.

Logitech G923 Performance

On both the PC and Playstation 4 Pro, I tried to test the Logitech G923 in almost every well-known driving simulation. The following are the games I play on the G923: Gran Turismo GT Sport, Forza Horizon 4, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Dirt 5, Euro Truck 2, SnowRunner, MudRunner, and Spintires.

I believe I’ve used it enough times in games to get a sense of the G923. It can be extremely challenging to use a steering wheel for the first time. I gathered my coworkers who own cars but have never handled a steering wheel to test how realistic the Logitech G923 was. I also had the steering wheel checked. Since they had a car, they should have been able to use it without any issues, but that did not happen. It takes some getting used to because we can’t really feel the speed of the vehicles in the game. I say this because you should give the Logitech G923 some time to get used to it if you’re buying a steering wheel for the first time.

You can claim that there is no difference in G923 if you previously owned G29 and G920 and switched to it. Then, when you used it for the first time, you opened a game that didn’t support TrueForce. However, under these circumstances, one of the innovations will be felt when you touch the pedals. Since the new pedal system makes it simple to apply the appropriate amount of force, you won’t have to worry about hurting your feet or spending hours fiddling with the brake power settings in games.

The force feedback inside the steering wheel feels the same, especially since the two engines are the same as before, but the grip still feels premium thanks to the stitched leather trim. Yes, so far everything has been the same, but when you launch a game that supports TrueForce, you notice a significant difference. Like Gran Turismo Sport or the more leisurely SnowRunner. Then things start to alter. You can better understand what TrueForce means, for instance, when you are waiting at the Grand Turismo starting line and the engine is lightly idling, when you pass over the uneven roadside curbs during the race, or when you lightly touch another vehicle.

Since TrueForce integrates processing directly into the game engine rather than using pre-made sound tracks, even the slightest vibration can be felt in your car. There are unfortunately no precise adjustments you can make through the Logitech G Hub program if the sensitivity of the tremors bothers you, despite the fact that there are typically very fine tuning options in games. To avoid overtaxing players’ minds, Logitech regularly updates the G923 with all of the fine-tuning. In the early days of the reviews, I particularly wished to leave every setting at its default state so I could experience what Logitech had to offer. You will certainly be pleased.

You can race on mountains, stones, mud, etc. instead of flat roads like Gran Turismo and Forza Horizon 4 allow. You might want to travel over unpaved roads. SnowRunner steps in to help with that. You start noticing more in SnowRunner than just the force feedback and TrueForce. Because holding the steering wheel is challenging on rough roads, in practice. The player is given this challenge by the Logitech G923. I was missing the driving experience I talked about in SnowRunner even as I was writing this article. I should still use the G923 to play SnowRunner even after the article is finished.

Cons of Logitech G923

A trusted name in steering wheel sets is Logitech. Because there are so many advantages in the G29, G920, and G923 models, the disadvantages were always subtracted. But I still want to mention a few drawbacks I have with the Logitech G923.

First off, while the switch to a gradual spring system for the brake pedal is novel, in my opinion the brake pedal is still too stiff. Although Logitech aimed to create a realistic experience, the brake is actually soft until the car is moving very quickly, at which point it becomes hard. Or it is just as stiff when the car is stopped. Of course, asking to see this system in such detail on a recreational vehicle is absurd, but Logitech’s motorized pedal setup will always be my expectation.

Apart from these, I can’t say that I agree with Logitech’s comments that “it has released the same product without changing anything”. Because every innovation Logitech adopts will result in additional costs for both Logitech and us players. In order to avoid charging the players extra money, Logitech has made an effort to keep the price of the G923 reasonable by integrating new inexpensive features and solutions on top of its successful products.

Should u buy the Logitech G923?

In general, with the new steering wheel set G923, Logitech delivers a product deserving of its name without compromising quality. Although the additional TrueForce feature cannot be said to completely reinvent the current steering wheel, it is true that it still propels the G923 ahead of its successors.

If you already own a Logitech G29 or G920, you might not want to upgrade to the G923, but if you’re considering purchasing a steering wheel for the first time, I strongly suggest you do so. For instance, after playing games that supported TrueForce, I found the force notification in other games to be incredibly uninspired. I’m even more thrilled to think that I’ll be using the Logitech G923 with TrueForce support to play the upcoming Forza Horizon and Gran Turismo. In the interim, the Logitech G923 began to support the Playstation 5. Your G923 can now be used with a Playstation 5.

Therefore, you might not need an upgrade if all you need is a power statement. But you might think about the G923 if you want a more accurate and realistic experience than force reporting.
